Our primary art for stand-up defense is Tae Kwon Do, which is a Korean art focusing primarily on the kicking range; however we also train in the boxing, trapping and clinch range. We teach practical, scenario-based self-defense such as counters to grabs, holds and chokes; these standing self-defense techniques are primarily derived from Korean Hapkido. Additional stand-up defense concepts come from western boxing, Thai boxing, Kali, Silat and Krav Maga. Our ground defense concepts are from Sombo, Judo, Brazillian Jiu-jitsu and wrestling. Needless to say, we at Champion believe in cross-training; we believe that no single art is superior and that a well-rounded martial artist must train in all ranges of self-defense. That's why we have developed such a comprehensive self-defense program.
Whatever you're looking for in the areas of fitness, self-defense or character development, you will find it here at Champion.
To provide a safe haven of positive energy and support for our students' mental, physical and character development in order to enhance their individual lives thereby enhancing our community and society at large.

What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition? We’ve been in business for 21 years. We’re family owned and operated, and we provide a clean, comfortable, family environment. We are experts at helping our members reach their goals and our successful track record speaks volumes. We offer martial arts classes for children, adults, preschoolers and homeschoolers and a variety of fitness classes for ages 13-over.
What's one tip for first-time students that will make them feel like veterans?
We have an excellent support staff of instructors; they love to help so never hesitate to ask a question. We know that everyone’s different so we encourage all members to take it at their own pace and modify when necessary; our instructors will show you how. YOUR success is our #1 priority!
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
Martial arts schools come and go. Some are like boot camps. Some are like belt factories where they basically hand out the belts. Others dabble in eastern mysticism. Master Prinkey wanted to create a school that was like your extended family where learning is fun and rank is earned. In addition, our fitness classes are pay-as-you-go because so many folks would like to work out and stay in shape without the “big club” environment.
What do you love most about your job?
There is nothing more rewarding than to take a shy, young boy or girl who lacks focus or self-esteem, and to help them become all they can be. To watch a follower become a leader, to watch a mouse become a lion, and to know you played a part in their accomplishments; that is the definition of success. Also, there is nothing quite like seeing a fitness member who hasn’t worked out in years become a workout machine and get into the best shape of his or her life.
